As a stand-up comedian, she received a Cable Ace Award for her one-woman HBO show, "One Night Stand -- Command Performance." She was named Best Female Comedy Club Stand-Up at the 1991 American Comedy Awards.
She also earned an American Comedy Award in 1995 for her performance as a host of the '94 Emmy Awards.
DeGeneres also starred in the recent movie "Mr. Wrong" and has had a New York Times best seller with her book, "My Point ... And I Do Have One."
