Obituaries for December 22, 1997

Tony E. Basile, 89, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Henderson. He was born Dec. 5, 1908, in Italy. A four-year resident, he was a 47-year repairman for Union Carbide Manufacturing.

He is survived by three sons, John Basile and Andrew Basile, both of Las Vegas, and Anthony Basile of Illinois; two daughters, Dolores Closterides and Anna Marie Mastorgio, and two brothers, Anthony Basile and Carmen Basile, all of Illinois; one sister, Lillian Punicki of Florida; 17 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be in Illinois.

MARY JO BELOTTI

Mary Jo Belotti, 51, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born April 18, 1946, in Pittsburgh. A 27-year resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Janine Salerno of Henderson and Dina Ehrlich of Las Vegas; her mother, Maime Incardona, and two brothers, William Incardona and Frantone Incardona, all of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Paradise Bible Baptist Church. Another memorial service will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

ANGELO 'MIKE' CAPOVILLA

Angelo "Mike" Capovilla, of Las Vegas died Saturday. He was born in San Francisco. A 35-year resident, he was a businessman.

He is survived by his wife, Rita; two sons, Michael Anthony Capovilla of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Michael Angelo Capovilla of Las vegas; two daughters, Michele Capovilla and Alissa Capovilla, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Viator Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

NELL H. EDWARDS

Nell H. Edwards, 49, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 8, 1948, in El Capitan, N.M. A 24-year resident, she was a dealer.

She is survived by her companion, Thomas Linnell, and one daughter, Tammi Watkins, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Christine Douglas, three brothers, Paul Horton, Bob Horton and Jerry Van Horton, and two sisters, Susie Horton and Laura Horton, all of Portland, Ore.; and two grandsons, Nikolas Sperle and Victor Coleman, both of Las Vegas.

Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is arranging private services.

MAGNOLIA FERRELL

Magnolia Ferrell, 80, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born May 17, 1917, in Holmes County, Miss. An 11-year resident, she was a retired retail clerk, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 308 and EOB Senior Center.

She is survived by three cousins, Hazel Geran and Lee Birda Rose, both of Las Vegas, and Erwin Wilburn of North Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

MARTIN FRANCIS GIEDEMANN

Martin Francis Giedemann, 71, of Henderson died Friday in a local hospital. He was born June 8, 1926, in Philadelphia. A two-year resident, he was a retired collector for a utility company and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta M.; one daughter, Marilyn Rogers of Wilmington, N.C.; three sons, Martin Giedemann of Franklinville, N.J., Richard Giedemann of Henderson and Stephen Giedemann of Edwards Air Force Base, Calif.; four sisters, Catherine Hartner, Eleanor Gandolfo, Madeline Gillespy and Margaret Mary Backowski, and one brother, Joseph Giedemann, all of Philadelphia; and four grandchildren.

Visitation is private. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

DOROTHY JUNE HORTON

Dorothy June Horton, 81, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born June 11, 1916, in Highmore, S.D. An 11-year resident, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Norma Hart of Henderson; two granddaughters, Rhonda Giere of Henderson and Roxanne Hart of Las Vegas; one grandson, Kevin Hart of Henderson; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Chapel, Eastern.

LLOYD MALONCON

Lloyd Maloncon, 63, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Liberty, Texas. An 18-year resident, he was a 20-year steel worker and past president of Steel Workers Union Local 8065.

He is survived by two sons, Kenneth L. Maloncon of Las Vegas and Steven L. Maloncon of Vincent, Ind.; one daughter, Pamela E. Maloncon of Las Vegas; one brother, Raymond Maloncon of Ontario, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until a 7 p.m. rosary Tuesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

EDWARD MILLAR

Edward Millar, 79, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Denver. An 18-year resident, he was a sales manager in the automotive industry, a World War II and Korean War Navy chief electrician mate and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two daughters, Gayle Bolanz of California and Suzie Ramage of North Carolina; and one grandchild.

DOMENIC S. PELLEGRINO

Domenic S. Pellegrino, 84, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A 21-year resident, he was a longshoreman in the import-export industry and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Joseph Pellegrino of Las Vegas, Louis Pellegrino of Woodbury, N.Y., and Jerry Pellegrino of Ronkonkomo, N.Y.; one brother, Vincent Pellegrino of New Jersey; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Eden Vale Memorial Park. Bunker Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

JAMES A. RIRIE

James A. Ririe, 58, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 30, 1939, in Rigby, Idaho. A 13-year resident, he was a lawyer.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; three daughters, Elizabeth Robbins of Henderson, Katherine Osborn of Springville, Utah, and Amanda Ririe of Las Vegas; two sons, Andrew Ririe of Provo, Utah, and Spencer Ririe of the Philippines; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Tuesday in the Lindell LDS Chapel, 2245 Lindell Road. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

SANDY SANDQUIST

Sandy Sandquist, 91, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local health care center. He was born Sept. 10, 1906, in Cambridge, Ill. A 50-year resident, he was a retired state government auditor.

He is survived by one son, Denny Sandquist of Las Vegas; one daughter, Donna Hull of Glendora, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10-11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

HOYT S. SIBLEY

Hoyt S. Sibley, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was born Dec. 1, 1910, in Salt Lake City. A 43-year resident, he was a newspaper publisher, a World War II Coast Guard veteran, founder of Nevada Legal News and a law school graduate in San Francisco.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan, and one son, John, both of New Jersey; one nephew (and business partner at Nevada Legal News), Scott Sibley of Las Vegas; his longtime friend and caregiver, Ruby McLean; and his partner at Nevada Legal News, Luz Munoz.

Visitation is scheduled 3 p.m. until a 7 p.m. service Tuesday in St. Gabriel Byzantine Catholic Church. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
