Woman raped; husband is forced to watch

A Las Vegas woman was raped by two men at gunpoint this week while her husband, who was tied up by the assailants, was forced to watch, Metro Police said.

The couple were in bed about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in their apartment at the Century Meadows complex at Twain Avenue and Jones Boulevard when two men -- one armed -- burst into their bedroom, said a detective with Metro's sexual assault unit. The men were wearing nylon stockings over their heads and faces, he said.

The men went into another part of the house and found about $600, which they took with them. They walked back into the bedroom, tied up the husband. One man raped the woman, then the other, the detective said.

The men came through a door that may have been unlocked, he said.

"The first that the victims were aware (of the suspects) was when the men opened the door to the bedroom," the detective said.

There have been no arrests. Detectives have interviewed neighbors to see if anyone saw the men going into the apartment complex, which is gated.

He said that kind of robbery and rape "is not a common occurrence."

The wife suffered some bruising, as did her husband.

The suspects were described as black, about 20 years old and 5 feet 8 to 5 feet 9. Both were wearing dark clothing, police said.
