Investigation into Leavitt’s connection with Harris continues

Even though William Job Leavitt Jr. was released from the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday and is being referred to as a victim by his attorney and relatives, the investigation into his life and connection with Larry Wayne Harris continues.

Leavitt and Harris were arrested Wednesday and accused of possessing a deadly bacteria, but the substance turned out to be a nonlethal animal vaccine, and Leavitt was released on his own recognizance.

Harris remains in custody at the Clark County Detention Center.

Meanwhile, rumors about Leavitt have begun to surface in national and international news.

After Leavitt's attorney said his client had conducted medical research associated with the University of Heidelberg, it was reported on German television that investigators there have launched an investigation into his work, according to John Goetz, a reporter on "Panorama," a German news program.

In the United States, media outlets also are turning up interesting tidbits.

The Salt Lake City Tribune reported Sunday that Leavitt is a distant cousin of Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt.
