Margaret Carlin

Margaret Carlin, 66, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 27, 1932, in Illinois. A resident for 16 years, she was a restaurateur.

She is survived by two sons, Patrick and Curtis; two daughters, Suzanne LaFlamme and Kathleen Trenberth; her mother, Irene Fitzgerald; and four grandchildren.

Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Elijah Cyril Conner

Elijah Cyril Conner, 61, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Nevada. A lifelong resident, he was a dispatcher.

He is survived by three brothers, Doyle Conner, Eugene Conner and Ted Conner.

Ramon Miguel Del Rio

Ramon Miguel Del Rio, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. He was born Dec. 27, 1945, in Indiana. A resident for 21 years, he was a city of Las Vegas senior project development officer.

He is survived by his wife, Lynnette; two sons, Carlos and Sean; two daughters, Deidra and Terri; his father, Ramon Del Rio; two brothers, Tony and Mario; one sister, Carmencita; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Griffith United Methodist Church, 1701 E. Oakey Blvd. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Clifton D. Dobson

Clifton D. Dobson, 71, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 2, 1928, in Arkansas. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired Las Vegas Review-Journal pressman, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Lois L.; two daughters, Judy L. Jones of Henderson and Ruby I. Powell of Anchorage, Alaska; three sons, Harvey D. Dobson and Ronald W. Dobson, both of North Las Vegas, and Harlon S. Dobson of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Belford Fox

Belford Fox, 68, of North Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Baton Route, La. A resident for 60 years, he was a retired mining supervisor and a Korean War Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Fox and Elaine Fox, and one sister, Naomi Tucker, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Dr. Jerry Fox of Bakersfield, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Zion United Methodist Church, 2108 N. Revere St., North Las Vegas. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Rose M. Herrod

Rose M. Herrod, 59, of Henderson died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born June 16, 1939, in New Orleans. A resident for five years, she was a retired grocery store operations manager.

She is survived by one son, Roderick Herrod of Riverside, Calif.; her mother, Josie Q. Johnson of Henderson; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson.

Leonard Hirkala

Leonard Hirkala, 56, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Steubenville, Ohio. A resident for 36 years, he was a retired Caesars Palace executive of 14 years and was previously employed at the Las Vegas Hilton.

He is survived by his wife, Alma; one daughter, Brina Hirkala of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Mary Ference of Weirton, W.Va., and Helen Faccinto of Las Vegas.

Visitation will continue until 9 p.m. today with 6 p.m. services and 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. services Friday in Christ the King Catholic Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Donald Otto Homberg

Donald Otto Homberg, 37, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 12, 1961, in Washington, D.C. A resident for 14 years, he was a tire business manager.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy; his mother and stepfather, Marilyn and Edward Nickoles of Sykesville, Md.; one brother, Robert Homberg of Edgewood, Md., and Kristen Homberg of Sykesville.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

George 'Barney' Oldfield

George "Barney" Oldfield, 78, of Henderson died Wednesday in Henderson. He was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. A resident for 57 years, he was a retired hotel-casino mechanical engineer and a World War II and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; one son, Richard Oldfield of Reno; one brother, Thomas Oldfield of Niagara Falls; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson. Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Henderson. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Robert Wallace Post Sr.

Robert Wallace Post Sr., 83, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 18, 1915, in South Bend, Mich. A resident for nine years, he was a retired deli store manager, a member of Masonic Blue Lodge and the Eastern Star.

He is survived by his wife, Pama E.; two sons, Robert W. Post Jr. of Encino, Calif., and Larry Post of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. The family suggests donations to the American Heart Association, 6370 W. Flamingo Road, Suite 1, Las Vegas, NV 89103, or the Diabetes Association.

JoAnn Powe

JoAnn Powe, 66, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Houston. A resident for 28 years, she was a retired hotel housekeeper.

She is survived by her husband, Cleveland A.; six daughters, Jaratha Powe Flemming of Atlanta, Lorene Powe Allen of Fairfield, Ala., and Andrea Powe, Jacqueline Powe, Velneice Powe Ewell and Valerie Powe Torrence, all of Las Vegas; two sons, Charles L. Powe of Atlanta and Cleveland A. Powe III of Las Vegas; one sister, Elma White of Ontario, Calif.; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled 3-4 p.m. today and 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Southern Baptist Church, 1600 E. Cartier Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Howard Reed

Howard Reed, 25, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 10, 1973, in Las Vegas. A resident for 25 years, he was a laborer.

He is survived by his companion, Lakesha House, two daughters, Ashley Rene Walker and Alaysia M. Reed, and one son, Aireonte H. Reed, all of Las Vegas; his father, Timothy C. Reed of North Las Vegas; his stepmother and stepfather, Vera and Mathew Howard Sr. of Las Vegas; eight sisters, Priscilla Robinson of Dayton, Deborah Reed of Los Angeles and Kimberly Reed, Helen Samuels, Jackie Starnes, Daisy Bailey, Cathy Howard and Patricia Harris, all of Las Vegas; eight brothers, Timothy C. Reed Jr., Cliff Reed, Shaft D. Reed Sr., Mike Howard, Homer Gary, Mathew Howard Jr., and Terry Latchinson, all of Las Vegas, and Will Reed of Chicago; and his grandmother, Bertile Dunn of Oakland, Calif.

Visitation will continue until 8 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Main.

Frederick Funston Rittman

Frederick Funston Rittman, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born May 10, 1917, in Warrensburg, Mo. A resident for 55 years, he was a retired electrician, a Korean War Army veteran, a member of the Evening Optimists and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 357.

He is survived by his wife, Clarace L.; one daughter, Nancy Rittman Froistad of Las Vegas; two brothers, Carmel Rittman of Laurie, Mo., and Ed Rittman of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Doris Gottschalk of LaMonte, Mo., and Geneva Gottschalk of Sedalia, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Shadow Hills Baptist Church, 4400 W. Oakey Blvd. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Thomas W. Schultz

Thomas W. Schultz, 73, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Pennsylvania. A resident for two years, he was a wholesale-meat cutter and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; five sons, Tom Schultz of Florida, James Schultz of California, William Schultz of Utah and Michael Schultz and Christopher Schultz, both of Henderson; one daughter, Diana Schultz of California; three sisters, Emma Chambers of San Jose, Calif., and Anna McHale and Hannah Springman, both of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

James G. Steffen

James G. Steffen, 41, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1957, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for 16 years, he was a musical conductor/director, a member of the local Musicians Union, a former musician for Shirley MacLaine and a former conductor for Engelbert Humperdinck.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; one step-daughter, Tammy Johnson of Las Vegas; one brother, Bob Steffen of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; and his mother and stepfather, Pat and Roy Bromley of Pine City, Minn.

Visitation will be 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. services Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial is private.

Luella C. Stupka

Luella C. Stupka, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired file clerk for a manufacturing company.

She is survived by one daughter, Georgia Clifford of Las Vegas; two sons, Andrew Stupka of Las Vegas and Joseph Stupka of Torrance, Calif.; two sisters, Alberta Harbo of Fontana, Calif., and Peg of Pennsylvania; one brother, Clair Smith of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Herbert H. Walters

Herbert H. Walters, 84, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 18, 1914, in Bates County, Mo. A resident for five years, he was a retired truck driver for a freight company and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Norma Jeanne Carroll of Las Vegas; one son, Kenneth Walters of Arvada, Colo.; one brother, Harold Walters of Ontario, Calif.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
