Construction resumes on Vegas time share

Hilton Hotels Corp. said it resumed work on its Hilton Grand Vacations Club time share development on the Las Vegas Strip.

Work on the bottom four floors of the project's first phase was under way when the tourism industry fallout from the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 caused Hilton to halt work at the site.

Hilton is estimating work on the $111 million first phase will be completed in January 2004. Upon completion, the first phase of the four-phase project will consist of 295 units. Upon build-out, for which Hilton has yet to establish a timeframe, the project will have up to 1,523 units.

Hilton also said work would resume in September on its time share in Orlando, Fla., on which work was also halted in the wake of Sept. 11.
