Irene M. Acosta

Irene M. Acosta, 64, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 18, 1939, in El Paso, Texas. A resident for 10 years, she was a hotel accountant and active with hospice.

She is survived by three sons, John Benjamin Acosta of Phoenix, John Daniel Acosta of the U.S. Air Force and John David Acosta of Escondido, Calif.; two daughters, Isela Irene Mena of Escondido and Camille Segovia of Las Vegas; her mother, Juanita Mena Gaxiola, and one sister, Connie M. Voettiner, both of Whittier, Calif.; one brother, Joe M. Martinez Jr. of Chula Vista, Calif.; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 5 p.m. memorial service Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Additional services will be held in New Mexico.

Gloria Lola Berardi

Gloria Lola Berardi, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born April 27, 1925, in New York. A resident for three years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by two daughters, Annette Connors and Geraldine Freeman; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren.

Mass was scheduled at 11 a.m. today in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Grace Bonanno

Grace Bonanno, 87, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired dressmaking supervisor.

She is survived by one daughter, Rosann Myron of Mission Viejo, Calif.; one son, Joseph F. Bonanno of Torrance, Calif.; two sisters, Josephine Dipzinski of Las Vegas and Alice A. Alimentario of Aliso Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today with a 6 p.m. rosary in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Hezekiah Cook

Hezekiah Cook, 57, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 11, 1945, in Lake Providence, La. A resident for 39 years, he was a retired hotel maintenance supervisor and a member of Teamsters Local 631.

He is survived by four sisters, Mary Cook-Westby, Mary Cook-Pippins, Susan Cook-Payton and Lenola Cook-Smith, and two brothers, James Thomas Cook and Jesse O'Neal Cook, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Palm Chapel, Main. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Jerome Cypress

Jerome Cypress, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 21, 1917, in Norfolk, Va. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired security officer at a bank, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He is survived by one daughter, Carole L. Cypress of Largo, Md.; two sons, Jerrold Cypress of Los Angeles and Cornell Cypress of Wakefield, Va.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled two hours prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Robbin Dowdy

Robbin Dowdy, 47, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born June 17, 1955, in Iowa.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Iowa. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ann Frances Dunavant

Ann Frances Dunavant, 82, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Sept. 7, 1920, in Missouri.

Raymond Michael Hardmon

Raymond Michael Hardmon, 41, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 4, 1961, in Ohio.

Edith M. Higdon

Edith M. Higdon, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born May 14, 1930, in Guernsey, Wyo. A resident for 42 years, she was a retired fast-food manager.

She is survived by one daughter, Gwen Reeves, and one son, Wayne H. Higdon, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, James Hardy of Indian Springs and William Harris of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until a 1 p.m. service Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Dewey Hinkle

Dewey Hinkle, 72, of North Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Feb. 23, 1931, in Missouri. A resident for 34 years, he was a retired insurance adjuster, a member of Senior Originals and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.

He is survived by two daughters, Carrie Dasko and Rebbie Haney, both of Las Vegas; one son, Rodney Sparks of Henderson; one brother, Aubrey Pavey of Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

John T. King

John T. King, 75, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 29, 1927, in New York.

Paul Kirkbride

Paul Kirkbride, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospice. He was born May 23, 1917, in Ohio. A resident for 14 years, he was a long haul trucker.

He is survived by his wife, Gaylene; 10 sons, Randy, Tony, Paul, Jim, Bob, Kenny, Bill, Isaac, Johnny and Jeff; seven daughters, Debbie, Donna, Kathleen, Mary Martha, Juanita, Polyann and Joyce; one brother, Gib; two sisters, Blanche and Pauline; 23 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Stanisiawa Maciag

Stanisiawa Maciag, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A longtime resident, she was born July 9, 1917, in Ohio.

She is survived by one son, Richard Maciag of California.

Leita O. Maxim

Leita O. Maxim, 77, of Las Vegas died Feb. 15 in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Poland Springs, Maine. A resident for 15 years, she was a manager at a telephone company.

She is survived by five daughters, Shirley Ravand of Mount Vernon, Maine, Susan Quinn of Florida, Betty Casfkin and Cindy Novack, both of Massachusetts, and Debbie Colfer of Maine; two sons, Bill Maxim of California and Benny Maxim of Maine; two brothers, Carl Olson of California and Louie Olson of Florida; three sisters, Ruth of California, Helen of Oklahoma and Joy Blaisdel of North Carolina; and several grandchildren.

Regina Moehrle

Regina Moehrle, 94, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born Dec. 29, 1908, in Pennsylvania.

Sam Paci

Sam Paci, 92, of Henderson died Wednesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 18, 1910, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for seven years, he was a retired paint manufacturer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Rosemary Turco of Henderson; two brothers, Joseph Paci of New York and Nick Paci of New Jersey; one sister, Rose Cincotta of Las Vegas; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-8 p.m. Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Varnell S. Perkes

Varnell S. Perkes, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born Oct. 21, 1926, in Hyde Park, Utah. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired Nevada Test Site worker and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Myra L.; four daughters, Susan Brinkerhoff, Brenda Betka and Melanie Kelly, all of Las Vegas, and Debra Corbin of Seattle; one son, Michael L. Perkes of Las Vegas; two sisters, Maurine Crockett of Preston, Idaho, and Tana Perkes of Phoenix; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11 a.m. service Saturday in the LDS Red Rock Stake, 7401 Smoke Ranch Road. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Gladys Sampson

Gladys Sampson, 57, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A cook, she was born Jan. 9, 1946.

She is survived by two sons, John Martin and Patrick Martin; three sisters, Anna Rose Whitlow, Yvonne Nicks and Versie Harris; and two brothers, Kenneth Vickers and William Vickers.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries, 2071 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Harrison-Ross Mortuaries. A private burial will follow.

Pauline Ida Schafran

Pauline Ida Schafran, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born May 16, 1926, in Philadelphia. A resident for 23 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, William; two sons, Howard Schafran and Michael Schafran, both of Las Vegas; and one sister, Betty Polekoff of Philadelphia.

David L. Smith

David L. Smith, 61, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born March 9, 1941, in Alhambra, Calif. A resident for 26 years, he was a retired computer analyst/programmer and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie; one daughter, Debra Rosato of Las Vegas; his parents, Leo and Lois Smith, and one sister, Sylvia Musgrove, all of Westlake Village, Calif.; and one brother, Richard Smith of Erie, Colo.

Laura Jo "Jo" Updegraff, 89, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in North Las Vegas. She was born June 24, 1913, in Missouri. A resident for 48 years, she was a bank loan officer.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Lee Sinclair and Frances J. Arrington, both of Las Vegas, Dawn Bersche of Mesa, Ariz., and Margaret Allen of Little Elm, Texas; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Harold Wasserman, 83, of Las Vegas died Feb. 8 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1919, in Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 13 years, he was a lighting technician and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine; one stepdaughter, Merrily Stanton of Chickamauga, Ga.; and two granddaughters.

John F. Wauschek

John F. Wauschek, 77, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local health care center. He was born March 18, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired United Airlines aircraft mechanic of 30 years and was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Edy Rodarme of Wildomar, Calif., and Alice Robertson of Las Vegas; two sons, John F. Wauschek III of Cerritos, Calif., and Arthur Wauschek of Detroit; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
