Water restrictions begin for LV, Clark County

Restrictions on what days residents of Las Vegas, most of unincorporated Clark County and Henderson can water their lawns went into effect Monday.

The restrictions are part of a regional response to the worst drought on record. Lake Mead, the source of water for about 90 percent of users in the Las Vegas area, is down more than 70 feet.

Most customers should have received notice on what days they can irrigate their lawns from their water provider, but those unsure of the schedule can call their provider, visit www.snwa.com on the Internet or call the Southern Nevada Water Authority at 258-SAVE for information.

Customers in each area are assigned three days per week for watering, with an option to water Sunday if needed. Time-of-day watering restrictions, which prohibit the use of sprinklers from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., remain in effect through Sept. 30.

Watering restrictions for Boulder City residents take effect Sept. 17. North Las Vegas will consider drought restrictions at the Sept. 17 city council meeting. If passed, those restrictions would take effect Oct. 1.
