Fishing report: Fishermen find success at Lake Mead

NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) creel census clerks said that striped bass fishing continued to be outstanding at Lake Mead.

Boaters reported good top water action with fish being caught near Boulder Beach. The fish ranged from two to three pounds and were caught with surface and shallow diving lures.

Boaters also reported good success for striped bass from Hatchery Cove to Black Island.

Shore anglers had better success than the previous week during the early morning and evening hours. A few stripers that weighed in at 2-3 pounds were landed.

NDOW creel clerks who have been working in the Overton Arm reported that fishing pressure was light. Boaters fishing around Fish Island landed largemouth bass that ranged from 18-20 inches. Crankbaits were landing the fish. A few small stripers were also caught.

Boaters fishing with crankbaits around the islands in Echo Bay also were successful for largemouth bass that measured 16-18 inches.

Anglers fishing from the shore at Cottonwood Cove reported good success for small striped bass and catfish. The fish were caught with anchovies.

Mild weather prevails over the management area with daytime temperatures in the mid 80s and nights in the low 50s.
