More than 50 seek flood loans

More than 50 Las Vegans have applied for low-interest Small Business Administration loans to repair property damaged during the Aug. 19 flood, a spokesman said Thursday.

Of those, 17 have completed and returned the application, and 10 sites have been inspected. Those 10 loan applications will be sent to the Sacramento office for review, said Ken Shuman, an SBA spokesman sent to Las Vegas this week.

Tuesday was the first day of operation for the SBA office, in the Las Vegas West Service Center at 3001 Ronemus Drive, near Cheyenne Avenue and Buffalo Drive. The emergency loans are available to people in Clark County who can show they sustained damage to a home or business during the flood.

Residents have until Nov. 3 to file loan applications for property damage. The center is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays. For information, call (800) 488-5323.
