Women to attend Hadassah academy

Fifteen women from the Las Vegas area have been selected to participate in a leadership program with the Hadassah Leadership Academy, which is sponsored by the Women's Zionist Organization of America.

The two-year program is designed to develop female leaders in the Jewish community. It incorporates Jewish and Zionist education, skill development, social activism and hands on involvement within the Jewish Community.

These women were selected: Sharon Alter, Myreen Aschenbach, Lois Basichis, Elaine Burke, Ann Ehrenzweig, Cheryl Fine, Joanne Friedland, Barbara Grisar, Terri Herman, Micki Jay, Nicole Klein-Richter, Kathleen Menasche, Sara Silverberg, Doris Soroky-Aarenau and Nancy Weinberger.

Lauren Eisenberg has also been appointed a facilitator of the group.

The participants were selected because of their interest in leadership and dedication to Hadassah and the Jewish community.

The program's first year includes a trip to Washington, D.C., which will focus on community activism, and the second year will focus on current issues in Israel and Zionism and will end with a trip to Israel.

Hadassah was founded in 1912 and is the largest women's and Zionist organization in the United States. In the U.S., Hadassah promotes health, education, social action, volunteerism, social action, Jewish education and research.
