Henry Avila

Henry Avila, 68, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 7, 1935, in Denver. A resident for 37 years, he was a retired food and beverage management consultant and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Veronica Vonderohe; one son, Robert Avila; two sisters, Laura Avila and Mary Ann Wisehart; five brothers, Roman Avila, Peter Avila, John Avila, Jesse Avila and Victor Avila; and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Frank F. Bavlnka Jr.

Frank F. Bavlnka Jr., 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in Mosinee, Wis. A resident for eight months, he was a retired plumbing supply inventory supervisor and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Sue Hart; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Graveside services will be noon Thursday at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S.Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Anthony Arlanch Bills

Anthony Arlanch Bills, 24, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born April 28, 1979, in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, he was an educational program assistant.

He is survived by his mother, Vanessa Lynn Bills; two brothers, Rolando D. Bills of Las Vegas and Edwin E. R. Bills of California; and one sister, Marlisha K. Bills of Las Vegas.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave. Burial will be private. Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive handled arrangements.

Edward Chase

Edward Chase, 86, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1916, in Chicago. A longtime resident, he was a security guard for an art institute and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his sister, Irene Gaw of Palos Heights, Ill.

Private burial will be at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, handled arrangements.

E. Rosine Lindsey Colston

E. Rosine Lindsey Colston, 66, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born June 20, 1937, in Odessa, Texas. A resident for 61 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Emblem Club of Henderson.

She is survived by her husband, R.W. 'Bud;' two daughters, Sandi Noyola and Lori Noyola, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Carole Lindsey Bishton of San Clemente, Calif.; three brothers, Gary R. Lindsey of Henderson, Roger Lindsey and Travis C. Lindsey, both of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Karen Joanne Dodge

Karen Joanne Dodge, 58, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 30, 1945, in Newark, N.J. A resident for 7 1/2 years, she was a county court clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A.; one daughter, Bridget M. Cole of Towaco, N.J.; and one sister, Bonita Diane Geoghegan of St. Mary's, Ga.

Vincent Duane Doke

Vincent Duane Doke, 83, of Las Vegas died Sept. 17 in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 17, 1919, in California. A resident for nine years, he worked for a truck company and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by one son, James Doke; three daughters, Cynthia Dix, Linda Stalcup and Deborah Martin; two brothers, Raymond Doke and Leonard Doke; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Phillip R. Esterline

Phillip R. Esterline, 57, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Los Angeles. A resident for nine years, he was an automobile service writer and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; three sons, Christian Esterline, Ethan Esterline and TJ Esterline, all of Las Vegas; his parents, Ralph and Sally Esterline of Sparks; one brother, Danny Esterline, and one sister, Terri Foint, both of Fresno, Calif.; and one grandchild.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Affordable Cremation & Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Allen D. Fuller

Allen D. Fuller, 95, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Clinton, Ore. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired iron worker and a member of the Iron Workers Union.

He is survived by his wife, Erma; one daughter, Kathleen M. Andrews of Las Vegas; three sons, Robert A. Fuller of Las Vegas, Harvey Nordine of North Dakota and Scott Hansen of Oregon; one stepdaughter, Janeane Hansen of Alaska; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; and 22 great-great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will be at Palm Memorial Park.

Kathleen 'Kay' Hicks

Kathleen "Kay" Hicks, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born July 30, 1925, in Dunmore, Pa. A resident for 22 years, she was a gaming cashier.

She is survived by one son, Raymond Hicks of San Diego; one daughter, Sharon Ann Winarski of Las Vegas; three sisters, Florence Evans of Plano, Texas, Darlene Staffer of Baltimore and Irene Costello of Hartford, Conn.; three grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

Private arrangements are being handled by Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Leroy Buddy Hillman

Leroy Buddy Hillman, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Dec. 14, 1931, in Milwaukee. A resident for 12 years, he was a CPA for the state of Wisconsin and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Ida E.; three sons, David, Jay, and Rich; five daughters, Karen, Kathy, Susan, Mary Lou and Barbara; one brother, Jerry; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Kathleen M. Kalteich

Kathleen M. Kalteich, 64, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Bliss, Idaho. A resident for 22 years, she was a retired federal substance abuse counselor.

She is survived by her husband, Gary W.; three sons, Richard Dale of Henderson, Gregory of Las Vegas, and Michael of Turlock, Calif.; seven daughters, Karen Denise of Salem, Ore., Janet Denise of Kerville, Texas, Margaret of Bend, Ore., Rebecca of Grants Pass, Ore., Karen Sue of Road River, Ore., Cynthia of Kirkland, Wash., and Carla of Elma, Wash.; 19 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Michelle A. Montecino

Michelle A. Montecino, 46, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 7, 1957, in New Orleans. A lifelong resident, she was a hairstylist.

She is survived by one son, Brett Rosepiler, her mother, Kathleen Whalen Carlson, and four brothers, Rick Montecino, Mike Montecino, Lance Montecino and Dean Montecino, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. today at Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Services will be noon Wednesday at Palm Mortuary Cheyenne.

Leo Nonnemacher

Leo Nonnemacher, 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born March 23, 1933, in Bethlehem, Pa. A resident for 25 years, he was a supermarket courtesy clerk and an Army veteran.

He is survived by one brother, Bill Nonnemacher of Bethlehem; and one sister, Caroline 'Honey' Zueno of Lancaster, Pa.

Patricia Ann Oliver

Patricia Ann Oliver, 76, of Pahrump died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Nov. 8, 1926, in Kansas City, Kan. A resident for six months, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Micki Basile of Kansas City; three sons, Dan Flanigan of Kansas City, Mark Oliver of Pahrump and John Oliver of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Alfredo A. Quintanilla

Alfredo A. Quintanilla, 62, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 3, 1941, in Sumay, Guam. A resident for six months, he was a retired bus driver.

He is survived by his wife, Frances; four daughters, Arlene Q. Frazer of Phoenix, Geraldine Q. Flores and Jeannette Quintanilla, both of Chalan Pago, Guam, and Helen Quintanilla of Las Vegas; and four sons, Alfred Quintanilla Jr. and Roland Quintanilla, both of Chalan Pago, Steven Quintanilla and Patrick Quintanilla, both of Phoenix.

Larry L. Rouse Jr.

Larry L. Rouse Jr., 36, of North Las Vegas died Sept. 20 in North Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 30, 1966, at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. A resident for 10 years, he was a clerk for a charity.

He is survived by one son, Christopher of Las Cruces, N.M.; one daughter, Breanna Lee of Las Vegas; his parents, Larry and Sandra Rouse of Rio Rancho, N.M.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bates of Las Cruces; his grandmother, Carrie Carra of Sedan, Kan.; and one brother, Darin Rouse of Antioch, Calif.

Catherine D. Scharf, 69, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 26, 1933, in Mariden, Conn. A resident for five years, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph, Husband of Mary Catholic Church Outreach Committee.

She is survived by her husband, John J.; two sons, Johnny Scharf of Placentia, Calif., and Kevin Scharf of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Kathleen Scharf of Las Vegas, Nancy Hickey of Venice, Calif., and Donna Scharf of Carona, Calif.; one brother, Carl Plunske of Fairfield, Conn.; two sisters, Beatrice Lyon of Orlando, Fla., and Ann Grant of Fairfield; and seven grandchildren.

Robert Silverman, 78, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in St. Paul, Minn. A resident for six years, he was a retired store fixtures salesman and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda; three sons, Scott Silverman of Chicago, Gil Connelly of Denver and Bill Connelly of Lake Villa, Ill.; five daughters, Cynthia Eady of Loxahatchee, Fla., Lynda Tourloukis of Park Ridge, Ill., Eve Floro of Edgewood, N.M., Ava Umanos of Mt. Prospect, Ill., and Bridget Quinn of Chicago; and nine grandchildren.

Ray C. Stalians, 93, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born March 6, 1910, in Sayre, Okla. A resident for nine years, he was a retired livery owner and operator, a member of the Christian Businessmen's Committee and the Rotary Club.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby P.; three sons, Gene R. Stalians, and Dean C. Stalians, both of Las Vegas, and Gary L. Stalians of Escondido, Calif.; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Helen A. Thomas, 79, of Kingman, Ariz., died Friday in Kingman. She was born June 30, 1924, in Butte, Mont. A resident of the Las Vegas area for 20 years, she was a homemaker and a World War II Army veteran.

She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Diedrick, Beverly Morton and Cathy Washer; one son, Hugh Thomas; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

Willis A. 'John' Thompson

Willis A. "John" Thompson, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 13, 1935, in North Carolina. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired construction company owner and an Army veteran.

He is survived by two sisters, Patty Barnes of Bailey N.C., and Beverly Brantley of North Carolina.

Marvin Zatz, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born April 1, 1927, in Chicago. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired premiums salesman, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Chicago Westside Club and a 1946 basketball player for De Paul University.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; four daughters, Rhonda Becker, Fern Vojnovich and Linda Jennings, all of Las Vegas, and Laura Stoner of McHenry, Ill.; and seven grandchildren.
