Climbing event set at Red Rock Canyon

The Red Rock Rendezvous, a national climbing event to benefit the Access Fund, takes place today through Sunday at Red Rock Canyon and Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.

The event is open to all climbers, from beginners to advanced.

Registration is $50 to participate in the climbing clinics and festival or $20 to attend the festival alone.

Open registration will be held today at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 7:30 a.m. at Spring Mountain Ranch.

The event will feature climbing clinics taught by climbing experts throughout Red Rock Canyon, a Red Rock Rendezvous festival, dinner, prizes, live music and a free pancake breakfast for participants.

After-schools put on program

Participants of the Inner-City Games/After-School All-Stars and Boys and Girls Clubs Cultural Arts program will perform from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

The performance will follow a free, 12-week after-school program in which participants learned skills such as art, dance, music and theater through interpretation of various cultures around the world.
