Builder acquires Arizona land

Las Vegas-based Rhodes Homes announced this week that it has acquired more than 10,000 acres in Mohave County, Ariz., for two communities, one near Kingman, Ariz., and one in White Hills.

Rhodes Homes bought the land because of its central location between Las Vegas and Phoenix, Jim Rhodes, owner of Rhodes Homes, said in a press release.

Rhodes Homes, through affiliated companies, purchased about 7,000 acres in west of Kingman for a master-planned community that will feature a golf course and other amenities for adults and retirees.

The private company also acquired more than 3,000 acres in the planned White Hills master-planned community near U.S. Highway 93, about 60 miles east of Las Vegas. Costs of both acquisitions were not disclosed.
