John Katsilometes talks to an exotic car sales rep who has turned Lamborghini Las Vegas into the Garden of Eden

Eden Hatle says the 2006 Bugatti Veyron handles like most any high-end luxury car. Until you jump on the gas.

"Then it's like driving a rocket ship," Hatle said Tuesday during an interview at Lamborghini Las Vegas. Hatle speaks wistfully of the Bugatti Veyron, a vehicle both exotic and rare - fewer than 10 exist in the U.S., and the last for sale on the open market was dealt last month by the 24-year-old Hatle. The ticket price was $1.8 million, the highest sale at Lamborghini Las Vegas since the dealership opened at 7770 Dean Martin Drive in September 2005.

And as part of that pace-setting transaction, Hatle also negotiated the sale of a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder for $200,000. "That made it an even two," Hatle said, referring to the $2 million the two-fer deal fetched.

Hatle has been with Lamborghini Las Vegas since it opened, and has quickly learned the art of dealing expensive wheels. It helps that her family owned a few vintage cars when she was growing up and she developed a fascination with off-road trucks in high school in San Diego, where she became friends with the family of Marc Chase (who owns the company's flagship in La Jolla, Calif., along with the Las Vegas dealership).

It helps, too, that Hatle is attractive and sharp - even if somewhat guarded about the stunning sale. She declined to disclose just who purchased the Bugatti, but did allow that, "I talked to the wife first. I started with her."

And in case you're wondering, it would cost $31,553 to register the 1,001-horsepower vehicle in Nevada - and that's without purchasing a vanity plate.

Flanked by Miss America Organization board members Lynn Weidner and Lynette Boggs McDonald at Tuesday's premiere of "Rocky Balboa" at Brenden Theatres at the Palms was Miss America Jennifer Berry. Unlike her embattled counterpart, Miss USA Tara Conner, Berry has not fallen prey to the wild nightlife behavior that has led Conner to rehab. When asked if she had any advice for Miss USA, Berry said, "I don't. I have no experience with what she's going through." When I joked that Berry could hit Vegas and make some tabloid news of her own, Weidner cut in and said, "Not on my watch." She was smiling, but not kidding ...

Late Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning, construction (and deconstruction) crews began slicing and loading the lobby of the La Concha Motel onto flatbed trucks, where it is being relocated to the Neon Boneyard on Las Vegas Boulevard North, next to Cashman Field. The lobby, designed by renowned architect Paul Revere Williams, is to become the visitors center, gallery and gift shop of the Neon Museum. The slice-and-dice project should be completed Friday ...

Flo Rogers said her final on-site assignment for KNPR 88.9-FM (Southern Nevada's National Public Radio affiliate) was one of her favorites - the premiere gala for "Love" at the Mirage, which she worked tirelessly for NPR. "It was a good one to go out on," she said. But Rogers is not, in fact, leaving Las Vegas - on Tuesday she was named KNPR's new general manager and president. On April 2 she supplants the retiring Lamar Marchese, who over 30 years built KNPR into one of the top NPR affiliates in the nation. Rogers, who has been with KNPR since 2001, was promoted after a six-month search to name Marchese's replacement ...

The good news at "Phantom - Las Vegas Spectacular" is that the chandelier that is the breathtaking centerpiece of the $40 million theater at the Venetian has not malfunctioned since previews in June. That is until Monday night when it faltered as it moved into place and caused about a 30-minute delay in the 7 p.m. performance ...

In time for the holidays: A pair of Royal typewriters, circa 1940, in downtown Vegas. One is fully operational and in near-mint condition (costing $144.95) at the Attic at 1018 S. Main St. The other, across the street at the Opportunity Village Thrift Store, is in something less than mint condition and is $25 ...
