2010 Book of Business Lists published today

The In Business Las Vegas 2010 Book of Business Lists was distributed with the publication’s regular print issue on Friday.

The publication of such books is one of the annual highlights for most business publications, funneling a year’s worth of work into an essential reference tool for the business community.

Lists ranking various prominent local industries provide readers with a unique guide to the local economy.

Unlike broader resources like phone books or other directories, the Book of Business Lists provides a more specific, filtered view of each featured industry, concentrating on ranking each industry based on industry-specific metrics wherever possible.

For example, hotels are ranked by the number of rooms, convention centers by convention square footage and hospitals by number of beds.

Ulf Buchholz, In Business research director, said readers frequently use the Book of Business Lists as an authoritative reference when they’re looking for sales leads, networking contacts and suppliers, to name just a few potential uses.

Readers from inside and outside of the In Business market in the Las Vegas area often refer to the book to provide them with a better picture of what the Southern Nevada economy looks like.

For example, a manufacturer from Los Angles looking to relocate might look at the book to see if there is a ready supply of businesses that would compliment his firm or compete with it; he might see what educational opportunities are available to his employees, what kind of lodging is available to potential clients and how the transportation infrastructure stacks up against that of his current location.

``We’re proud to be able to provide our readers with this invaluable resource,’’ Buchholz said.

Subscribers to the print edition of In Business receive the Book of Business Lists for free, and a digital version in Excel format is available for $99.
