Letter to the Editor:

Too many casinos are loud, cater to young generation

“What did you say? Come again, I’m sorry, I can’t hear you over the clatter and loud music in this restaurant.”

The music in a restaurant should be under the conversation — not over it, like at a concert. Very loud, lousy music is “torture.”

Are Las Vegas’ executives and managers crazy? No, they aren’t, but they are going for the easy, quick, fast, high return to attract the younger generation who grew up spoiled by a more high-tech form of entertainment and noisy music.

I have lived in Las Vegas since 1989 and remember the Strip’s shows, casinos and buffets with American and continental food.

Today Las Vegas’ buffets are too greasy, too salty and loaded with cheap Chinese, Mexican, and Italian food prepared American style. It’s not the best food from those countries and the prices are too high. Also, the customers today pay high prices but are poorly dressed, regardless of the event. No dress code is enforced, and there is a lot of vulgarity.

Sometimes cocktail waitresses are dressed like football players, and dealers and pit bosses are dressed like cowboys.

What is going on in Las Vegas? Longtime gamblers who prefer classic games are suffering with loud music in the parking lots, the elevators, the restaurants and in the casinos that can look like arcades.

Today in Las Vegas, quantity is better than quality. I am very sorry for the future of the “Entertainment Capital of the World.”
