Fatal shooting

A pawn shop owner who told police that he fatally shot a man he suspected was going to rob him has been arrested in connection with murder.

Metro Police are investigating the shooting, which occurred at about 5:07 p.m. Friday at Sahara Pawn Shop, 2400 S. Jones, near Sahara Avenue and Jones Boulevard.

The owner of the pawn shop, 59-year-old Victor Park, called police and said he had shot a man who entered the store because he believed he was about to be robbed, police said.

When patrol officers arrived at the shop, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was taken to University Medical Center's Trauma Unit, where he was pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Metro homicide detectives arrived at the scene and began a preliminary investigation, resulting in the arrest of Park, police said.

Park was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on a charge of murder with a deadly weapon, according to detention center records.

The identity of the man who was shot won't be released until next of kin are notified and an autopsy is conducted by the Clark County coroner's office.
