Fans go gaga for Lady Gaga, get second Vegas show

Eccentric performer announces another concert after first date sells out

Special to the Sun/The Light Group

Lady Gaga performs Dec. 15, 2008, at Jet in The Mirage. The singer will bring her show to The Pearl in the Palms on Dec. 17 and 18.

Lady Gaga will play not one, but two concerts in Las Vegas next month.

The controversy-loving singer announced last week that she will perform at the Pearl on Dec 18. Tickets for that show went on sale this past Saturday and quickly sold out.

In response to the demand, a second performance has just been added.

The just-added show will take place at the Palms on Dec. 17, which is the day before the previously announced, now-sold-out concert.

Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance will go on sale at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, made a name for herself since emerging from New York’s club scene thanks to over-the-top live shows, wacky costumes and catchy dance tracks.

Included in this afternoon’s announcement were details of the opening acts for both of the December shows.

Though they call him a kid, one of the two opening acts is actually two years older than the headliner herself: Kid Cudi (real name: Scott Mescudi) will take the stage in advance of both of Ms. Gaga’s performances.

The “Day and Night” hip-hopper most recently performed in Las Vegas at his album release party at Tao.

In addition to Kid Cudi, the Semi Precious Weapons are also scheduled to warm the crowds next month.

Tickets for both shows share the same $100 or $125 price tag -- though, again, the Dec. 18 date is already sold out.

Those wanting to catch a glimpse of Gaga can hope to score passes during the second round of ticket sales this weekend.

Passes will be available through Ticketmaster (1-800-745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com ) and the Pearl box office.
