With the announcement that B.B. King’s Blues Club—a privately owned chain with locations in Memphis, Nashville and Orlando—will open inside the Mirage before the end of the year, the hotel is set to expand an entertainment hub that already includes Cirque du Soleil’s Love Theatre and The Beatles Revolution Lounge.
The 558-seat restaurant and venue, more a “feel-good music place than a concert hall,” in the words of B.B. King’s president and co-founder Tommy Peters, will bring in several all-star house bands, along with touring acts along the lines of Robert Randolph and Coco Montoya. “We stay within the blues, rock, classic soul, classic R&B and jazz genres,” Peters says.
The club, unaffiliated with Manhattan’s B.B. King’s, remains associated with the blues legend, so King, who lives in Southern Nevada, might just drop in to perform—on occasion. “At age 83, B.B. doesn’t just get up and sit in a whole lot,” Peters concedes. “But I think because he lives there, he will come to enjoy himself there.”
