Metro Police are investigating in the area near Robert L. Forbuss Elementary School after gunshots were heard this afternoon.

Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said the shots were heard at 2:23 p.m. in the 8600 block of Grand Canyon Drive, which is near South Fort Apache Road and West Ford Avenue.

Police were called after the gunshots apparently were fired at the rear of the campus, Martin said. The school had been put on lock down, but that has since been lifted.
