Shuffle Master CEO taking leave of absence for health issues

Las Vegas-based casino supplier Shuffle Master Inc.'s CEO is taking a medical leave of absence expected to last four to six weeks.

The company, maker of card shufflers and other casino equipment, today said Timothy J. Parrott is receiving treatment for an intestinal infection. Parrott contracted the infection in the course of ongoing treatments for a cancerous growth on his liver.

A management committee of senior officers will be filling in for Parrott.

“My doctors have advised me that my cancer treatments have been effective thus far and that treatment of my infection is going well,” Parrott said in a statement. “With time to focus on making a full recovery, I should be able to resume my normal activities. I am confident that our executive team, with over 30 years of experience at Shuffle Master, will continue to successfully execute our strategic plan while I am recovering.”
