Law Enforcement:

Constable deputy suspended after being arrested

A constable deputy has been suspended without pay after being arrested on two felony counts of statutory sexual seduction, a county spokeswoman said on Friday.

Clinton Wood, 24, is an employee of the constable’s office, said county spokeswoman Stacey Welling.

According to an arrest report, Wood was booked into the Clark County Detention Center earlier this week on two counts of statutory sexual seduction. Jail records indicate that Wood is not currently being held.

According to the report, on Wednesday, Wood had a party at his home in the 2700 block of Cathedral Lane that was attended by the teen girl and her mother.

While the girl’s mother was “passed out” from alcohol intoxication, Wood gave the girl beer and liquor, the report said.

The girl told police she told Wood her mother had given her permission to drink at the party.

The girl reported that at about 4 a.m. Wednesday, she was alone in the living room area, sleeping on a sofa when she was awaked by Wood, who began to kiss her on the neck and face and touch her chest, the report said.

The girl told police she instructed Wood to stop.

The girl was then told that she could not sleep on the sofa and, after Wood told her he would sleep on the floor while she slept in his bed, she followed him to his bedroom, the report said.

Wood and the girl then reportedly had sexual relations on his bed. The girl told investigators she continuously told him to stop.

In an interview with police, Wood said the interactions were consensual and that he believed the girl was 17 years old. He told police that the girl initiated the contact by kissing him.

The arrest report lists the girl’s date of birth as 1995 but does not give a month.

The report says that an exam of the girl at University Medical Center “revealed no immediate signs consistent with sexual assault.” It also said some of her statements of events were inconsistent with evidence that was recovered.

When police interviewed Wood, he had a “hickey” type mark on his neck, the report said. The girl had told investigators Wood had asked her to leave the mark.

Several witnesses told police they saw the two kissing on the couch, the report said.

Las Vegas Justice Court records indicate that the case is in screening. Wood is scheduled to appear before Justice of the Peace Eric Goodman on Oct. 25.

It wasn’t immediately clear Friday evening if Wood had an attorney.
