Officer involved shooting
Metro Police are investigating the Friday night police shooting of a man suspected of committing multiple armed robberies.
Police said the man has robbed a number of places in east Las Vegas, each time firing shots at the scene.
About 11 p.m. Friday, officers were canvassing an area after a robbery occurred when they located the suspect in an SUV parked at a gas station convenience store at the intersection of Nellis and Charleston boulevards, police said.
When officers approached the vehicle, the man pointed a firearm at the officers and fired two rounds, police said.
Officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was taken to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead, Metro said.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the man after his next of kin is notified.
Metro Police will release the names of the officers involved in the shooting 48 hours after it occurred, per department policy.
