According to an arrest report, a Clark County School District biology teacher admitted to Metro police that she pawned school electronics due to tough economic times.

Danielle Garry, 39, a biology teacher at Chaparral High School, was arrested last Friday on charges of burglary, possession of stolen property and obtaining money under false pretenses.

An arrest report stated that Metro police searched for the missing school property on a pawn shop database and found a matching transaction from Dec. 3 at Super Pawn, 1100 W. Sunset Road, in Henderson. The item in question was a Dell laptop computer which was registered in the CCSD network services and purchasing department.

Police also found a Hitachi liquid crystal projector registered to CCSD which was allegedly pawned by Garry on the Dec. 3 at EZ Pawn, 10075 S. Eastern Ave., in Henderson.

Police questioned Garry last Friday, the report said, and she admitted to pawning the laptop but said she was going that day to buy it back and return it to the school. The report said Garry told police this wasn’t the first time she had done this.

“Times are tough and I was just doing this to get me by and pay some bills,” Garry said to police. She later admitted to pawning the projector and a a Dell computer monitor.

Court records show Garry is to have two court appearances in February in Las Vegas Justice Court. One is for a bench trial on a misdemeanor charge before Justice of the Peace Joe Sciscento at 9 a.m. Feb. 17, 2011. She is to have a screening on a felony charge at 8 a.m. Feb. 15, 2011, before Justice of the Peace Tony Abbatangelo.
