Spring Valley is in the playoffs.

The Grizzlies took down Clark 38-12 Friday to seal their spot in the postseason.

“I was on edge all day long,” Spring Valley coach Marcus Teal said. “We finally got it done.”

Spring Valley will travel to undefeated Palo Verde next Thursday for its first-round playoff game.

“Instead of looking at them in awe, we need to get to where our kids believe we can play with them,” Teal said. “You have to get past the names on the jersey.”

For Spring Valley to have a shot at the upset, it will need to build on a steady performance against Clark.

Quarterback Jordan Cox made the most of his Senior Night and scored two touchdowns. Senior running back Austyn Wallace also added a score.

Everyone on the Grizzlies defense played well from the beginning, Teal said. Clark came in with its own shot at the playoffs and an explosive offense.

The only teams that held the Chargers to fewer than 12 points this season before Friday were Bishop Gorman and Desert Oasis.

“We were a little worried with the problems they presented with misdirection,” Teal said. “They were gashing us pretty good at the beginning, but our defense came up when they needed to.”
