A very Las Vegas Thanksgiving

Harry Potter

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1” (starring Daniel Radcliffe, left, and Emma Watson) is sure to be a popular ticket at area movie theaters this holiday weekend.

If preparing an enormous Thanksgiving meal, with more accompaniments than feathers on a turkey, isn't up your alley, there are abundant restaurants offering Thanksgiving meals on and off The Strip, and they range from fine dining to the traditional and comfort food basics.

Thanksgiving is a big weekend for going to the movies, and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1" is likely to hold over as the top film on the planet this holiday weekend. But if your Muggle blood isn't fond of the world of Hogwarts, quidditch and wizardry, "Burlesque," starring Caesars Palace headliner Cher, Christina Aguilera and Las Vegas Academy and country star Julianne Hough, shimmies and shakes into theaters this week, too.

A number of nightlife options are available on Thanksgiving, and Las Vegas Weekly has the rundown. The Weekly staff also shares its list of 53 Things to Be Thankful For about Las Vegas this year, and the positives include Harry Reid defeating Sharron Angle, "Peepshow" at Planet Hollywood, The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, KNPR, Vegas Uncork'd, Lon Kruger, the Hoover Dam bypass, The Neon Museum and Jabbawockeez at the Monte Carlo.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
