Gorman, Palo Verde flex muscles; we need a 3A league

The Desert Oasis football team Thursday beat visiting Pahrump Valley 41-0.

Devin Fortenberry, Brandon Andrews and Chaunsi Heatley had touchdowns for the Diamondbacks, which improved to 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Southwest Division.

One week after losing 56-6 to defending state champion Bishop Gorman, Desert Oasis responded with its second shutout of the year. It was the fourth time the Diamondbacks held an opponent to less than six points.

“It was a matter of getting back to what we do and regaining that confidence,” Desert Oasis coach Faron Siebel said.

Desert Oasis only trailed Gorman 7-6 after the first quarter, but surrendered 35 second-quarter points in dropping its first league game.

“Once they got rolling, they got rolling,” Siebel said of Gorman.
