Fatal shooting

A man shot during an apparent robbery Friday night in a North Las Vegas casino became the city’s second murder victim of the night after dying at a hospital Saturday morning, police said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the bathroom of the Opera House Casino, 2542 Las Vegas Blvd. North, just before 11:30 p.m. Friday, North Las Vegas Police said.

Police said they believe Henderson resident Stefon Clark, 21, was robbing people in the bathroom when he allegedly shot the victim several times. Casino security officials detained Clark until police arrived, North Las Vegas Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said.

The victim was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit, where he died about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, officials said.

Police arrested Clark and booked him into the North Las Vegas Detention Center on charges of murder with a deadly weapon and robbery with a deadly weapon, Bedwell said.

This is the 12th murder of the year in North Las Vegas.

Police don't believe there is any connection between this murder and another that occurred earlier Friday night near Clayton Street and Gowan Avenue.

Anyone with information on either incident is being asked to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at (702) 633-9111 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (702) 385-5555.
