Claim Jumper, law enforcement agencies to fund raise for Special Olympics

Local law enforcement officers are teaming up with Claim Jumper restaurants to raise money for Special Olympics Nevada on April 14.

Officers will be working alongside Claim Jumper servers to serve food to local customers. Residents may leave a special donation as part of their tip at any of the three participating Las Vegas Valley restaurants between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.

All of the proceeds from the donations will help nearly 4,000 Special Olympics athletes in Nevada participate in sports such as basketball, bocce, bowling, golf, power lifting, soccer, softball and track and field.

It costs approximately $250 to send a Special Olympic athlete to a state competition, according to a press release.

Participating locations:

- Town Square location, 6629 Las Vegas Blvd. South: Department of Public Safety and the Nevada Highway Patrol

- Henderson location, 601 N. Green Valley Parkway: Henderson Marshals

- Spring Valley location, 1100 S. Fort Apache Road: Clark County School District Police

CORRECTION: This story was updated to indicate that only Henderson Marshals are participating in the event at the Green Valley Claim Jumper. | (April 8, 2011)
