North Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Michael Varney is leaving his post to become the new president and CEO of the Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.

Varney, who has been the CEO and president of NLVCC since April 2010, will begin his new duties by June 6. In Tucson, he will succeed 30-year CEO Jack Camper, who is retiring from the Tucson chamber.

“I am grateful to the board of directors for the opportunity to serve our great community,” Varney said in a statement. “There is no doubt that we are poised for a long-awaited economic rebound. North Las Vegas is ideally positioned to capture opportunities in the near future and long term.”

Under Varney’s administration, the NLVCC expanded its volunteer base, introduced a small business stimulus program, ramped up public policy efforts and unveiled member discount programs and workshops to help small businesses.

“We are extremely sorry to see Mike leave as he has done a great job of reinventing our chamber with his new programs, which have generated substantial value for our members,” NLVCC chairman John McMillan said in a statement. “Although we shall miss him, our staff is extremely capable and will be there to continue to serve the needs of our members and the Chamber.”

The NLVCC was founded in 1948 to advocate and support businesses in the city. For more information, visit www.northlasvegaschamber.com.
