Sandoval names three to task force on abolishing state advisory boards

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval has named three former state senators to make up a task force to determine what advisory boards can be abolished in state government.

Sandoval said a periodic review “is required to ensure we eliminate those that are unnecessary to the service of the people of the state.” Scores of these advisory boards have been created over the years and may have outlived their function, he said.

The governor named former Republican Sens. Bill Raggio of Reno and Ann O’Connell of Las Vegas, and Democrat Bernice Mathews of Reno. They will serve without salary or per diem.

The task force must submit its report by July 15.
