Once again an attempt to change the motorcycle helmet laws in Nevada is circling the Legislature. As a former rider with more than 25 years and more than 500,000 miles behind me, I feel it’s time to set the record straight.
Those who complain about loss of peripheral vision and or diminished hearing when wearing a proper helmet are obfuscating the real issue. And that issue is safety.
Most riders are recreational riders and do not see much true long-distance riding, and as such they are even more likely to be in an accident through an error of their own or a motorist who didn’t see them.
The saying “let those who ride decide” is simply a smoke screen and has no bearing on logic. It sounds pretty silly to me.
