New traffic signal going up at Bonanza Road and Tonopah Drive

New traffic signal

Bonanza Road is getting a new traffic signal at Tonopah Drive, just east of Rancho Drive.

The signal is scheduled to go into full operation Monday but was to be put in a flashing-red mode early this morning, making the intersection a four-way stop for a day.

The intersection carries about 22,000 vehicles a day, and the signal will make it safer for vehicles making left turns and pedestrians crossing, officials said.

The $287,573 signal was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
