A man found dead in a backyard swimming pool Sunday afternoon has been identified as 58-year-old Gervious Lee Rhodes, the Clark County Coroner's Office said today.

A homeowner, who didn't know Rhodes, found him at the bottom of his pool and called police. The coroner hasn't determined Rhodes' cause of death.

Police responded at 3:48 p.m. Sunday to a call in the 2300 block of Abarth Street, which is near Sahara Avenue and the Desert Rose Golf Course.

Rhodes was pronounced dead after firefighters pulled him from the water.

It's unclear how Rhodes got into the backyard, police said. Investigators were trying to determine whether he entered through one of two backyard gates.

Detectives from Metro's violent crimes section were investigating the man's death, although he didn't have any visible signs of trauma to his body, Lt. Ted Snodgrass said Sunday.
