Sunny, warm and windy for Las Vegas Valley

Colder temperatures to move into region Saturday, forecasters say

Sunny skies, temperatures climbing to nearly 90 degrees and winds gusting up to 30 mph are in the works today for the Las Vegas Valley.

The windy conditions will be brought by an area of low pressure moving through the western states this afternoon through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will drop to well below normal on Saturday, with highs reaching only 70 in the valley, the weather service said.

High pressure will lead to warmer temperatures early next week, possibly climbing to nearly 90 degrees Tuesday, forecasters said.

At 4:56 a.m. today, the temperature at McCarran International Airport was 58 degrees. The normal low for today's date is 57 degrees. The record low was 39 degrees, set in 1955.

Around the valley just before 5 a.m., temperatures were 56 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 58 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 53 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Temperatures in the valley were to rise today to 68 degrees by 9 a.m., to 80 degrees by noon and reach a high of 89 degrees by 4 p.m., forecasters said. The normal high for today's date is 82 degrees and the record high was 97 degrees, set in 2007.

Temperatures are expected to drop to 88 degrees by 6 p.m., to 81 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 76 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Friday's morning low will be 66 degrees and Friday's high will climb to 83 degrees, they said.
