What a sad day in America. A president of the United States must go on national television to defend his citizenship after more than two years in office and the large number of presidential primaries that preceded his election.
There is more than petty politics involved here at a time when the country faces enormous challenges. And we should honestly characterize that for what it is — pure racism. Indeed, at the very core of that reality is a deep and abiding hatred for what took place in November 2008.
What Americans must keep in mind is that other presidents will come after Barack Obama. The disrespect that we are being taught for the American presidency will come to haunt us. Disrespect and hatred are not easily kept in check.
