One person died and seven were injured in a rollover crash on Christmas Eve in Nye County, the Nevada Highway Patrol reported Tuesday.
The accident occurred about 8:15 a.m. on U.S. 95 near State Route 267, the NHP said in a release. Authorities said a 2001 gold Honda van traveling southbound drifted right for unknown reasons, entering the gravel on the shoulder and overturning in the desert west of the highway.
Eight people were in the van. Kamla Sharma, a 67-year-old Sparks resident, was ejected from the van and pronounced dead at the scene by an officer from the Nye County sheriff's office.
The other seven occupants in the van were transported to the hospital with various injuries.
