Irony at it’s best ...
For years we’ve heard about bringing democracy to the Middle East, but do we really want that? The people of Tunisia, Yemen and now Egypt want equality. They suffer from disparity, as do the poor here in the United States, but on a much larger scale.
For years our allies in the Middle East were composed of dictatorships and monarchies, authoritarian regimes. If democracy becomes the norm, we can no longer cut insider deals and/or control those regimes. How ironic: Having democracy come to the Middle East results in the United States having far less control.
