The United States’ largest electronic dance music festival appears to be headed to Las Vegas.

Electric Daisy Carnival, which drew more than 160,000 attendees to Los Angeles Coliseum over two days in 2010, will take place at an as-yet-unannounced Vegas venue June 24 and 25, according to a statement issued today by LA-based promoter Insomniac Events.

Last year’s EDC was home to more than 60 arrests, 200 medical emergencies and the death of 15-year-old Sasha Rodriguez, by ecstasy overdose, according to LA Weekly. In February, the Coliseum Commission voted to cap the festival’s capacity at 75,000 per day. Since then, the same officials have been slow to green-light the 2011 edition, leading to today’s move by Insomniac owner Pasquale Rotella.

“Without an executed contract in place at this time, it has become impossible to guarantee to all of the fans and talent that EDC can be produced at this venue this year,” Rotella said in his statement. “We are grateful for all of the events we’ve been able to produce at the Coliseum and Sports Arena over the years, and for the support of the fans, Los Angeles, the Coliseum Commission and everyone who has contributed to those events.”

The 80-plus acts at last year’s festival included: Sasha, Armin Van Buuren, Deadmau5, Moby, Groove Armada, Armin Van Helden, Swedish House Mafia, Basement Jaxx, Above & Beyond, MSTRKRFT, Benny Benassi, Boys Noize, BT, Kaskade, Z-Trip, Infected Mushroom, Wolfgang Gartner and Will.i.am.
