Strolin will temporarily lead nuclear projects agency

CARSON CITY – Joseph Strolin, an administrator in the Nevada Agency for Nuclear Projects before his retirement in 2009, has agreed to return to be acting director, Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Wednesday.

Strolin doesn't want a permanent appointment to the agency that is battling to keep the high-level nuclear dump from Yucca Mountain in Southern Nevada.

Former director Bruce Breslow was named by Sandoval to head the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Strolin was planning division administrator for the agency until his retirement. He has been working part-time as a consultant for the agency and that contract will be terminated.

The law says the Commission on Nuclear Projects will nominate three people for director and the governor will make the final selection.
