A national group that supports women candidates upped its support for State Treasurer Kate Marshal today.
EMILY’s List offered its full endorsement to Marshall, shifting her from an “On the List” designation.
Marshall, a Democrat running in the special election for Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District, is the first candidate this cycle to receive the group’s full endorsement, according to a statement it put out today.
Marshall faces former state Sen. Mark Amodei, R-Carson City, in the heavily Republican district. The election is Sept. 13.
The EMILY’s List endorsement usually proves to be more than just nominal support, generating significant campaign contributions for the candidates it endorses. Marshall has already proven a strong fundraiser, raising nearly twice as much money so far as Amodei.
Marshall, however, has an uphill battle for the seat that no Democrat has won since it was created in 1981.
