Henderson firefighters responded to a house fire Friday afternoon that caused an estimated $100,000 damage to the home near Robindale Road and Green Valley Parkway.

Officials said the accidental blaze occurred about 3:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of Caserta Court as the result of a carelessly discarded cigarette

The woman who owned the two-story custom home returned to find smoke detectors sounding and smoke throughout the house. She exited and called 911, officials said. No one else was home at the time.

Arriving units found a fire in a downstairs room that was extending to the second floor on the interior of the home. Officials said firefighters brought the blaze under control within 15 minutes.

Damage to the house was extensive, and nine people were displaced but did not require assistance, officials said.

One firefighter was injured and transported with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
