A man was shot multiple times at a convenience store Sunday afternoon near the UNLV campus, Metro Police said.

Lt. Ted Snodgrass said the shooting happened about 2:50 p.m. at Speedee Mart, 804 E. Flamingo Road, at the intersection with Swenson Street.

A man allegedly shot the victim multiple times in the shoulder and torso area before fleeing in a vehicle, Snodgrass said. The victim was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The motive behind the shooting wasn't known, but police believe they might have found the gun that was used on the roof of the nearby Siegel Suites, Snodgrass said.

Police said the man fled to Siegel Suites, where patrol units were responding to an unrelated incident, Snodgrass said. Police found what they believe is the getaway vehicle, along with a woman who had been riding with the man.

Police initially said the gunman had been taken into custody Sunday evening, but Metro spokesman Bill Cassell said Monday morning that no arrests have been made in the case.

Police detained and interviewed several witnesses Sunday evening, but the investigation is ongoing, Cassell said.
