Chris Giunchigliani launches mayoral ad in Spanish and English

Updated Wednesday, March 16, 2011 | 4:56 p.m.

After relying on web videos and email blasts, Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani is hitting the airwaves Thursday with her first commercial in the Las Vegas mayoral race.

The ad features supporters from all walks of life strolling downtown with Giunchigliani. There are construction workers, students, entertainers, doctors and senior citizens of all ages and colors. Former state Sen. Joe Neal pops up in the crowd. There's even a dog.

Giunchigliani is releasing the commercial in both Spanish and English, a smart move given her support in the Latino community and the influence of Hispanic voters.

Businessman Victor Chaltiel also has a Spanish language ad running on Univision and Telemundo.

"I look at this city, and I see opportunity on every corner," Giunchigliani says in the commercial. "Together we can put Vegas back to work."

Giunchigliani is known for her grassroots campaigning, and many of the people featured in her ad are volunteers.
