Southbound lanes of Interstate 15 have reopened after a car fire prompted authorities to close the highway's lanes this morning near Tropicana Avenue.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Fackrell said one car involved in a two-vehicle accident caught fire, prompting officials to close the interstate until the fire could be extinguished.

Traffic was backed up to Sahara Avenue as the road reopened.

The accident occurred about 9 a.m. One person might have minor injuries from the accident, but no one was taken to the hospital, Fackrell said.
