Chase ends when police spin out suspect’s car

Chase ends

A police chase in which a fleeing car hit several other vehicles and nearly struck pedestrians ended Friday evening when officers spun out the suspect’s car, Metro Police said.

The chase began after police received a 911 call from a man whose car was stolen in the area of Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway, police said. The car hit several other vehicles and was close to hitting pedestrians on the sidewalk, police said.

The driver dumped the car at the Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway, and allegedly stole another car, police said. A police helicopter was involved in the pursuit at that point.

Officers finally stopped the suspect by performing a pursuit intervention technique, or PIT maneuver, near Harmon Avenue and Nellis Boulevard, police said.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries and will be in police custody upon release, authorities said. The incident is still under investigation.
