Motor scooter rider, 64, critically injured in crash near Strip

A 64-year-old man riding a motor scooter east of the Las Vegas Strip suffered critical injuries early Saturday in a collision with a van.

Metro Police responded at 3:48 a.m. to the collision on Harmon Avenue east of Koval Lane. Investigators said a 2010 Angel 50 scooter was eastbound on Harmon when the driver of a 2010 Dodge Caravan turned onto Harmon from a driveway and entered the scooter's path.

The scooter collided with the left‐front of the van, ejecting the rider, police said. The rider, identified as Cheon Hong, 64, of Las Vegas, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with critical injuries.

The driver of the van, Msgena Gebregabiher, 26, of Las Vegas, wasn't injured.

The crash remains under investigation.
