Where to go and what to see this week

Extreme Thing After 16 years, you know the drill—extreme music, extreme sports and other assorted extreme behavior all day long at Desert Breeze Park. Thee Oh Sees If you’ve never seen John Dwyer’s shambolic San Fran garage-rock crew onstage, now’s the time. Edmonton’s Hot Panda and California’s American City open. March 24, 9 p.m., $10, Beauty Bar.

Girl Talk There are mashup artists, and then there’s Gregg Gillis, the one guy who can make a Boston/Ludacris/’N Sync blend sound cool. Plus, no one dances behind a laptop quite as memorably. With Max Tundra & Junk Cultura, March 25, 8 p.m., $25, Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard pool.

A Night at the Pops Showtunes! The Las Vegas Philharmonic presents “An Evening With Rogers and Hammerstein,” featuring vocal soloists and the Las Vegas Master Singers. March 26, 8 p.m., $35-$75, Ham Hall.

The Lincoln Lawyer Matthew McConaughey keeps his shirt on and puts his charm to good use in this legal thriller about a sleazy lawyer taking on a rich client with a few secrets. Both the star and the genre find redemption in a solid, entertaining movie. Now playing citywide.

Black Swan Natalie Portman deservedly won an Oscar for playing a high-strung ballerina cracking under the pressure of her first leading role in Darren Aronofsky’s creepy, engrossing melodrama. Available on DVD March 29.
