The young performers of the Rainbow Company Youth Theatre will present "Metamorphoses" at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North, starting Thursday.
Performances will run through the following week. Admission is $3 for children under 12, $5 for ages 13-17, and $7 for adults. Shows will begin at 7 p.m. on April 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9; they start at 2 p.m. on April 3, 9 and 10.
"Metamorphoses" is a play by American playwright Mary Zimmerman, adapted from the classic Latin poem of the same name. Its story weaves classic Greek and Roman myths into a epic tale that spans the whole history of the world until the height of the Roman Empire.
The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre, which is in its 34th season, features an ensemble of 40 local students, ages 10 to 18, selected "from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds," according to its website.
